Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Roberts is part of the Robertses' fourth generation that live in the Atlanta area beginning with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in the theatre at a young stage. When he was a college student at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he was a part of several performances. When he joined in 1953 the Air Force in Biloxi, he was seen with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. They got married in the year 1955, and their first son Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter was enrolled in Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957, the couple quit the Air Force and Walter began his studies at Tulane University. Walter started working at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter and Betty Lou financed their own production of a local Sunday morning show for children, Bum Bum and His Buddies. The Actors and Writers Workshop was founded in 1964 and ran for six years. Lelisa Billingsley often referred to as Lisa was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
