Niykee has experienced a whirlwind few years including being chosen by Snoop to sing with him on The YouTube Brandcast May 2013 Niykee maintains a consistent songwriting schedule even though she has been a bit busy. Being a magnet for producers, Niykee constantly sifts through the many beats that are sent to her. She finds that most are a source of new songs. After just five minutes that I know the beat's worth it. After that I am able to see the concept of a whole song in my brain and I begin to compose. When I sit at my front porch, playing guitar, my lyrics simply appear and usually are written in fewer than thirty minutes. Niykee says that when she matures as a singer-songwriter her painful memories from her youth serve as inspiration. "Even even if I'm not writing about my life directly it is the loss of my sister and my painful childhood are incorporated into my music," she says. This influences my music and creates a deeper significance behind everything that is an important thing to me--I need to know that I can listen to any of my music 20 years down the road and feel proud of the things I had to say.
